Going the Extra Mile: How StuTech Puts People First, Every Time

A

t StuTech, we believe that technology should empower—not frustrate—especially for seniors who didn’t grow up with smartphones, apps, and streaming services. Every day, we’re out in the community making tech a little less scary and a whole lot more manageable. Whether it's helping someone set up a new device, getting them a better deal on their internet, or just sitting patiently and walking them through how to send a photo to their grandkids—StuTech shows up.

Take Sylvia, one of our amazing clients here in Mesa.

We spent over an hour on the phone with Cox’s customer service. After getting nowhere, we finally reached out to the local Cox store, who—within just a few minutes—got us the information we needed. From there, it was on to Verizon. That part? Three and a half hours of talking, troubleshooting, waiting, re-explaining, and finally getting Sylvia’s new phone activated.

Now, most people would’ve called it a day after that. But not us. We noticed something else while we were there.

As part of our commitment to going beyond just “fixing the issue,” we took a look at Sylvia’s Cox Communications bill—just to make sure everything was working efficiently and that she wasn’t overpaying. Spoiler alert: she was.

We reviewed her internet and TV plan with her and quickly realized that she could be getting a better deal. Not only was she paying for slower internet, but she was also spending more than she needed to for cable TV.

So, what did we do?

We didn’t hand her a to-do list—we drove her there ourselves.

That same day, we took Sylvia to the Cox Communications store. We helped her cancel her existing TV service, return her outdated equipment, and pick up a new modem that could handle faster speeds. No waiting in lines alone. No confusion. We were right by her side the whole time.

Then we got her set up with YouTubeTV, a flexible and easy-to-use streaming option that better fit her needs. We installed Amazon Fire Sticks on her TVs so she could access her favorite shows with ease, no bulky cable boxes or confusing remotes. And yes, we sat with her and made sure she was comfortable using everything before we left.

The result?

Sylvia now has:

  •  Faster internet
  • An easier, more modern TV setup
  • A new phone that works beautifully
  • And here’s the best part—she’s saving about $90 every month.

That’s over $1,000 per year back in her pocket. For a senior on a fixed income, that kind of savings isn’t just nice—it’s essential.

But to us, this isn’t just about saving money or solving tech problems. At StuTech, it’s about giving confidence to people who often feel left behind by technology. It’s about dignity, independence, and making sure no one is left to navigate the confusing digital world alone.

We don’t believe in “one and done” service. We build relationships with our clients. We take time to listen, to explain, and to make sure the solution we provide is the right one—not the most expensive one. Whether we’re helping a widow send an email to her daughter, teaching someone how to use FaceTime for the first time, or spending a Saturday getting someone back online after a service outage, we’re doing it because we care.

Sylvia’s story is just one of dozens we could tell. Every week, we meet amazing folks who remind us why we do what we do. Technology can be overwhelming, but with a little patience, the right advocate, and a friendly face—anything is possible.

If you or someone you know—maybe your parents or grandparents—needs a tech ally, not just a tech guy, StuTech should be your first call. We’re not a call center. We’re not a big-box store. We’re your neighbor, your advocate, your go-to for anything from “How do I check my voicemail?” to “Can I really cut the cable cord and still watch the Diamondbacks?”

And remember, when you’re facing a tech issue, don’t call your kids. They’ve got enough on their plate.

Call StuTech.

Because around here, it’s not about money or praise—it’s about people.
